Solo - Impossible Wishes
River watched her friends moving around doing things. Walker was wandering around and helping to clean up the area they called home, using his strong feet and snout to move the things needing moved, to right anything that the storm the night before had knocked over, while Fragment flew around getting things from high up, or even lighter things. Picking up random bits of litter that was all over the place and flying it over to the nearby trashcan...and she stayed put in her spot, swaying this way and that trying to point out the things she could see that needed fixed up, or picked up. The wind had thrown her around a little over night and she felt it today.
Walker would help move her now and again so she could stay close, being careful not to touch her, to make sure she was securely settled and also be able to see more of their area. She loved that her friends did all they could to include her, to make her a part of things, even though she couldn't do...anything. It was one of those things that made her feel useless to them. She was just there it felt like. There wasn't much she could do to actually be of use to her friends and she yearned for the ability to do something. Anything.
Staring off she let her mind wander. Wondering what it would be like to have wings like Fragment. Or strength like Walker. What it'd be like to have a tail like an Aipom, or any other number of more useful things than what she had. Which felt like a big nothing, honestly. Her mind wandered even more, and she began to dare to wonder the impossible. What would it like to be like a person? To have hands and feet? To have proper arms and legs? To be able to move around and pick things up. To run and play? It was an interesting idea, and she let her mind run away with the idea, and she found herself wishing for something she knew could never happen. River wished she could be a human.
Letting her friends continue what they were doing she carefully began to float off to a different area, where she could watch kids playing not too far off. Laughter and screams made their way to her, though they were muffled due to the distance. They were playing a game where one was chasing others trying to touch them. That made her a little. She knew what would happen if she was touched, and that wouldn't do. It'd happened once before and it'd left a mark on her. So now she wished for two impossible things. To be human...and to be able to be touched. Her friends tried their best to include her in things, and it helped Fragment could fly to do things that didn't require getting close enough to touch, but still. How nice might it be she wondered. Hearing Walker calling her name pulled her from her thoughts. For now.

That's not a sea-star! - Star Finding
The boys were off doing whatever it was they said they were going to do. River wasn't really paying close attention when Walker told her they'd be back in awhile. She'd just smiled at them until they were out of sight and she'd gotten lost on her thoughts again. Day dreams where she was happiest these days. Day dreams where she was most miserable these days. She had a deep rooted desire to be like the kids she saw running all over, playing and just having fun. To have hands and fingers so she could pick up and move things as needed, to be able to help her friends better. Her wishes were a mix of selfish desire, and a desire to help her friends. She couldn't think of one without the other, it was just how it was, and knowing this wasn't a possibility left her more and more sad.
Though she did a decent enough job of hiding it at least.
Today while they were gone she found herself sort of floating along the edge of the beach near the area they called home, staring off into the water. Watching people swimming. Running through the sand. Building sand castles. It all looked like so much fun, all because it was stuff she couldn't do. Granted Walker and Fragment couldn't do some of that stuff either but they could play with a beachball together and not worry about popping it on accident. Well. Maybe Walker could. Fragment might maybe pop it. She wasn't sure.
Still it was fun to settle and watch from an out of the way spot. River wasn't sure how long she was there before something a short distance off caught her attention enough to make her move. It was shiny and attention grabbing enough it pulled her out of her dead-end daydreaming. Carefully making her way across the sand, more than once she lost sight of what it was, it seemed to be getting buried, then uncovered in the slight breeze, the sand shifting as a result. Or maybe it was rolling across the sand...it sometimes seemed further away than when she started to chase after it!
River laughed some as she chased after it, not realizing she was mimicking those she saw running along the beach, or the park by chasing after whatever it was this was. She just knew she felt happier than she had in weeks, and it was such a strange, wonderful feeling! She caught a glimpse of what she was chasing, wondering what sort of a sea-star it was, not recognizing it. Finally it stopped moving, and she was able to get close enough to touch it, and she was surprised to find it wasn't a sea-star at all, but just a normal sort of star that was rolling along the beach. So strange! She'd made to turn and head home when all of her suddenly felt too heavy to move and she tumbled to the sand, eyes already closed tightly, exhaustion washing over her. At least she was far enough the water wouldn't wash her away she mused as she lost consciousness.
