2023 Halloween Haunted House CYOA
This follows the misadventures of Meegosh and Allman through the shop mini-event. It does not depict other characters.
That said, Omnia played by LirileiOff in the distance of the amusement park a building that sits empty more often than not has a strange bustling of activity, workers moving things in and out. Glimpses can be caught of animatronics, giant spiders, tombstones, spiderwebs, machines that are hard to figure out their purpose but will be discovered to be fog machines eventually, and more and being taken into this building. Signs stating KEEP OUT! and UNDER CONSTRUCTION! litter the area, and gates prevent entry. For now. But if you listen a little you can catch snippets of conversation. A haunted house is being set up for some purpose.
It will be open...
eventually.
Enter.
If you dare. - - -
Omnia's Haunted House is open now through Halloween evening! As you step into the house you're filled with a sense of curiosity, dread and a little fear as you realize you can't get out the way you came in. There's only going forward. Omnia speaks to everyone as they step in welcoming them, warning them that to get out it's only forward from here. For the duration of the haunted house if you participate you pick one of your characters (any stage...and if you're new and don't have one yet be sure to request it from newbie-pokemon and use it even if it's not been dropped off yet) and there will be minimal writing. There will be lots of dice rolls, and you can edit your posts to react to whatever action you were told (ex: stand on one foot for a minute. roll 1d6 if you roll a 5 or 6 you did it! Anything lower you fall over)
There are a bunch of spooky pre-made prizes, some rare potions a couple of customs and even some blessings in the dark and spooky haunted house. You will be given choices and chances and they'll all lead to different places and results (even if you and another player pick the same thing. because Omnia has some tricks up her sleeves...)
Please join Omnia at her Haunted House, she can't wait to play with you all! Your first task upon entering the haunted house is to roll 1d6 with your little entrance reply
jirachiswishrp.proboards.com/thread/814/haunted-house-open-halloween-eveningThe inside of the haunted house is different for everyone that enters. Mazes, mirrors, smoke. Twisting corridors and doors that lead to no where. Yet retracing your steps takes you to an entirely new area that you're almost positive you didn't come from in the first place. You're not sure if this is an actual haunted house, or turning into a house of horrors.
There's an ever present feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach and yet you have to push on. You can't get out by going backwards clearly so now you have to decide...left or right? Forward? ....is that a staircase leading up? Or no maybe that's down? Nothing here seems to make sense at all.
What you assume are scare actors seem to be lurking in the most unusual places and as you wander you're given the most bizarre instructions that at first you ignore...and eventually start to follow. This is someone's idea of a good time, but not yours.
Welcome to Omnia's Haunted House. Where absolutely nothing is as it should be. This is Omnia's world she's just letting forcing you to play in it for awhile.
- - -
It's finally time for the haunted house to open and Omnia is excited to welcome everyone to her little venture.
How to play the haunted house is a little bit different. It's going to require a bare amount of rp. For ex: (character name) steps into the haunted house and looks around.
Then, I'll quote you with instructions. You follow those (with a small amount of writing. ex: (character name) hops on one foot) etc.
Omnia has put into play lots of interesting pokemon moves so even if two people get the same directions, they won't get the same results. (For those curious she's used wonder room, night shade, confuse ray, & double team to mess with people all the more effectively)
As you step into the haunted house you feel a sense of curiosity, and of dread. You hear a mischievous giggle filling the air and a sing-songy voice welcoming everyone to her haunted house. The mysterious Omnia is speaking to you it would seem.
She asks that everyone step inside away from the door and as you do it...vanishes. Another giggle and a "There's no going back, only forward to get out of my haunted house! Along the way you might meet some new fiends...or friends. Maybe a shiny bauble. It's hard to say!"
As you make your first post please roll 1d6 using the dice icon and for the range enter 1-6 You will use one of your characters through this (if you don't have one yet be sure to request your newbie pokemon, and use them for your character!) and have a chance to win potions, pre-made spooky pokemon, a custom or two, and possibly blessings. Everything will be randomized and you'll get a choice if you want to pick up, or catch what you come across. But some chances only come around one time...your choices will have consequences.

A child with a tail instead of legs stopped before the Haunted House. Meegosh gulped as he glared at it fiercely. There was no way he was going to be frightened by this fun house. His long ears twitched side-to-side as he straightened his shoulders and slithered forward. He was morbidly curious about the inside, but he had not successfully convinced anyone to come with him. They were all cowards, he was alone. Yes. And everything would be fine. Meegosh held his breath as he passed through the threshold, eyes darting around warily.
There was a girl in purple who seemed to be the guide. She asked everyone to move away from the door. But the door disappeared from one instant to the next. He gasped and tried pushing on the now empty wall. "What is going on?"
He turned back around toward their guide. She told them that the only way out now was to move forward. He gritted his teeth as she promised an interesting time, "meeting" new people and finding treasures. Sure. He could handle it though. "Okay. Let's do this."
- - -
"Oh now you're an interesting one aren't you? Two parts of a whole that shouldn't work together as it is, and yet you do. Color me intrigued!" the voice filled the air with admiration for the child.
"Tell me child, what is it you're afraid of. Truly, honestly afraid of?" the voice was sugary sweet and coaxing, even as the room seemed to grow smaller little by little. That light across the room suddenly seemed a few inches closer...the wall across from where the door was weirdly seemed to be in a place now that made the room seem smaller.
(Roll 1d10. 6 and up he resists telling her one of his fears. 5 and below he spills one.)

Rolled a 10
Meegosh felt the urge to tell her, and a brief twinge of fear filled him. The hair on his neck and shoulders stood on end as images and sounds and smells filled his mind. Then a flush of rage filled him, briefly, but it was enough to kick him out of his fear, for now. "Get stuffed, old hag! I won't tell you nothing!" Then the walls seemed to close in around them. At first he didn't notice but then his fur stood on end again. "Are the walls supposed to do that?" he asked, suspiciously.
- - -
Omnia was disappointed he managed to fight off her request to know more about his fears but his question had laughter filling the room again. The room continued to grow smaller and smaller, the ceiling and floor starting to move as well but before it could get too far, become too tight a part of the ceiling slid open and the floor beneath him rose up quickly and pushed him through the ceiling and into a new room, the strange piece of flooring now sealing the hole in the ceiling and once more a piece of floor.
Before him lay several doors to pick from and they couldn't be more different from one another! One was a large double door that was many feet high but very plain. Another was about his height and very, very ornate covered in metal that swirled and dipped making shapes of flowers and animals. Another was very, very small and looked like a normal door...and there was an even smaller one yet that looked like an open hole and maybe meant for a very small pokemon. It was hard to tell.
(Roll 1d4 to decide what door he has to go through)

Rolled a 2
Meegosh didn't know what was so funny. It was a legitimate question! But then he started feeling a bit nervous; looking around the room, the walls, floor and ceiling were all closing in on them. It seemed that he would be squished in here for sure, but he stood tall (for him) and was rewarded perhaps when a trap door appeared above them. Then the floor went through the door and closed itself off. It really was true, he was only getting out of here if he moved forward. Or up.
The next room was filled with several doors. Each was different in theme and size. He looked at Omnia, who seemed like a mismagius poke-person. "What, am I supposed to pick one or something?" Unease spread through him. "Which one leads to the exit?"
- - -
"Oh how cute, you think I'm going to tell you where the exit is. You have to find it...or not. All on your own." there was no scare actors there to take someone out if they panicked. Nope this was all them to figure out in the end.
As he went through the door he'd find a very hot and fiery room, flames licking along the walls and smoke rolling across the window. And scattered around the room were various keys that looked nearly identical for the door across the room. "Better figure out which key is the right one so you can get out before it's too late." the keys were on the floor, nailed to walls, sitting on furniture, one was in the door lock it's self. Had to be nearly a hundred of them it would take forever!
(Roll 1d100 1-20 or 80-100 as your roll he finds the right key within a few tries. Any other number takes four or fiive...at least)

Rolled 61
"Are you nuts? You aren't supposed to kill people!" Meegosh's eyes were bugged out, as they should be. But he was even more surprised to find himself entering the room. No, go back! Go back! The door disappeared behind him. He looked around the room, for the first time in his life verging on the side of panic. Noooooooooo!
In the end, he started looking for keys. As many as he could get loose without trouble. It would do no good if he tried to pry off one difficult key only to have his time run out. First he tried the key that was already in the door. It did not unlock the door. He yanked it out and threw it into the flames. It was of no use to him. He followed this pattern for what seemed like hours. He was getting hot. More than hot. Tears burned his eyes: was it just smoke getting in his eyes? More than once he angrily wiped them away, but he never stopped trying, not once.
- - -
"Kill? Oh no dear child, I'm not about to kill anyone. Delight them till they leave this boring plane of existence perhaps, but never kill I mean really you should just... perish the thought." The fire didn't get stronger, nor the smoke thicker at the least. Most of it was in Meegosh's mind at this point...and really that was far more entertaining to her than potentially burning the house down. Still as the door finally swung open it all vanished entirely and he was let out into what now looked like a giant...pirate...ship...? What?
"Yar matey! Time to see if you've got your sealegs...so to speak. Hold on tight a squall is coming!" as Omnia spoke a strong gust of wind started up blowing something towards Meegosh. Does he try to catch it or dodge it?
(If Meegosh attempts to catch the Bramblin roll 1d100 and if you roll 1-75 it's caught then give me a name/gender. if he chooses to dodge that's just fine!)

Perish? They were about to die and she was throwing puns at him? "You have a sick sense of humor, lady." At least she had graduated from 'hag' to 'lady'? Then finally, finally finally FINEally he felt the lock turn. Meegosh did a little wiggle before using that long tail to launch himself through the door.
The cool wind was welcome on Meegosh's fire-ruddy cheeks and shoulders. He looked around, slack-jawed and an enchanted expression filled his face. "A Pirate Ship!" As he did another once-over, he saw something floating over the wind right towards them. Towards him. It looked like a... tumbleweed? There was something else, something Omnia might not know. That was, the sound of whimpering. And the "tumbleweed" wobbled, somehow, in the air. Meegosh's snakey half coiled itself up, until he was ready, and with a snap! leaped into the air. With delicacy that his icepick-like hands seemed incapable of, caught the terrified bramblin'.
When they made it back on deck, Meegosh was wearing a toothy grin. "You're lucky you weren't in the last room with us. It was nothing but fire."
(I know Moogz will appreciate this name: Allman/male =DD <3 )
- - -
Allman is clearly relieved to be caught out of the blowing wind having been tumbling through the sky for awhile. After the Umbreon hadn't helped him he was certain he'd be stuck here forever. It already felt like it'd been forever. The Bramblin was content to be held as the ship continued on it's way across the choppy sea, wind blowing them all around it seemed until it suddenly bumped against something and a call of "Land ho! Everyone off!"
One moment they were on the pirate ship, and the next blink they were smack in the middle of a bustling city. Cars and people all over. Just not near them. For the moment.
(What does Meegosh do? Does he try to find somewhere safe for the two of them to figure out where they are? Does he boldy set off into the city? Roll 1d10 1-5 take a moment. 6-10 boldly forge onward!)

The bramblin' was definitely shuddering against Meegosh's chest. But were they scared and shivering, or shaking with laughter? He couldn't tell. He couldn't think much about it, either, as their setting abruptly switched from the deck of a pirate ship to the big city! "Woaaahh!" Allman suddenly started squirming, crackling as he did. Meegosh squeaked softly with pain as the brambles scratched bare arms. He almost dropped the bramblin' but carefully set him down instead. "Sorry..."
Allman shook side to side and spoke up. He had a soft, lilting voice and he stuttered. "N-no, I just wanted to thank you. M-my name's Allman."
"Hi, Allman, I'm Meegosh. Do you have any brothers?"
Allman shook his head negatively, then looked around. "W-willow?"
"What?"
"W-we're standing beneath a willow. I like them." There was a chuckle in the bramblin's voice.
"Oh. Well, we probably should try to figure out where we are. I think it's all that mismagius' fault."
"Meegosh, I think we're still in the haunted house!"
Well. Yeah. That could be it! "Yeeeaaaahhh....." Meegosh looked around thoughtfully.
- - -
The reprieve was a good way for Meegosh and Allman to get to know one another a little, and just sort of relax after the strangeness they'd both been put through. Really it just meant Omnia had her attentions focused elsewhere for a moment, and couldn't keep up with who she was tormenting in each location. Either way it worked out.
Still after a little bit of time things of course became strange again...an army of Chewdle of all things were starting towards Meegosh and Allman looking like they were ready to do some chomping. Can our intrepid heroes get away from the Chewdle unscathed?
(Roll 1d10 events they get away...odds they have to have a small fight against 4 Chewdle who aren't the best fighters. They're not. They're using incorrect moves... I don't think one has a move that makes them fart. Omnia is clearly playing tricks. It's going to be the stupidest, silliest fight if this occurs I promise)

((Aww, I wanted a silly dream-battle ))
Allman and Meegosh watched the advancing "army" and saw the fire in those beady eyes. It was time to go. "Let's go," Allman looked hopefully up at the boy.
Meegosh nodded. "Mhm, let's go. There has to be a door out of here somewhere nearby."
- - -
There was indeed a door nearby and as they took off running they fell through it. Well through a "loose manhole" that was actually just a long winding slide, rather than a trip down into the disgusting smelly sewers. The slide seemed to go an unnaturally long time before the pair were dumped out in a hot, barren desert with a bunch of Maractus and other desert type pokemon around but...not much else.
(Roll 1d10 to see how long it takes them to find an oasis...)
- - -
(( Rolled a 2
Woo hoo! I've had dreams like that, falling through the floor and into a tunnel slide
))
Meegosh and Allman yelled with terror until they realized they were falling down a slide. Meegosh loved rides and Allman was intrigued, though he kept rolling around and bouncing as proper sagebrush do.
They spewed out through the end of the slide only to land in sand. It was NOT as soft as it looked. They would be pouring sand from their britches for weeks. No pants? The sand don't care! They wandered past Maractus as the desert sun started to beat overhead. One nodded to them but offered no help. "There's got to be a door," Meegosh sighed.
"I'm not so sure," the bramblin' muttered softly but kept that to himself. He didn't actually mind it here, he was from a similar place after all. But his new friend was beginning to suffer from the heat. Maybe if they could find an oasis! In earnest, Allman "sniffed" the air as only one without a nose can do. Soon enough, Allman sensed the moisture in the air. "An oasis!" he exclaimed. He lead the way while Meegosh gladly followed in haste.
- - -
The trip to the oasis took no time at all thanks to Allman able to pick out where it was, an oversight on Omnia's part really. Still once they were there, the air was cooler, lush vegetation and trees all around, a few pokemon drinking from the pool of water there being fed by a steady stream of water from somewhere. The urge to drink is a strong one after being out in the desert even for a short amount of time. That done the pair is able to settle and rest for a little while. After a time sitting under one of the trees something falls and bonks Meegosh on the head.
(Roll 1d6 to figure out what just bonked him on the head...)
- - -
(( Monkeys and coconuts~!
Rolled a 1 ))
"Yeoch!" Meegosh cradled his head then rubbed it gingerly. "What the heck." Scowling, he let go of his bruised cranium and looked around for what had landed on him. Allman pointed to it and Meegosh came forward to investigate.
- - -
(If you'd rolled a 2 it would have been a coconut...xD)
There laying at Meegosh's side was a small sparkly item and examining it didn't give him too many clues either. He'd just have to figure it out once he got out of the haunted house. As he examines it the wind kicks up again sand blowing against him in stinging pelts. The water! It should protect him, them right? Maybe Meegosh, though Allman might float a bit. Still as they get into the water it starts to churn and swirl turning into a whirl pool that quickly sucks them both down into the depths. Meegosh will realize relatively quickly that he can breathe under the water strange as it sounds...and that down lower is what looks like...a bath tub plug? Looking up he can see things floating on the water. The underside of a rubber duck...? A toy boat...? Why were there bath toys? Maybe...all he has to do is pull the plug to end this nightmare...
(Roll 1d6 to see how long it takes Meegosh to realize he can breathe underwater...and that it appears they're now in a giant bathtub??? Also Meegosh has found a random item! You have the choice of either 1 megastone of your choice, or one potion from the super rare tier!)
- - -
(I like this much better than a coconut! And it will take me a bit to decide on megastone or potion!
Rolled a 5 )
Meegosh pocketed (into his shirt) the strange object.
Meegosh believed absolutely that he would die in that water. But as soon as he started breathing again, he swam quite quickly around, and around, and around, and-- Allman could not seem to swim, only float as a neutral object in the water. So Meegosh took hold of him and began to swim for the plug. This had to be their next "door". When he got to it, he pulled with all of his might, expecting it to come free at any moment.
- - -
It took a few pulls for the plug to come loose and it did begin to drain much like a bathtub would, water swirling round and round a loud sucking noise happening and dragging Meegosh and Allman down the drain along with the last of the water. The last sight the pair would get on their way down would be a plethora of tub toys stranded on the bottom of the tub looking out of their element. The pair surfaced moments later not near but in the Goldeen Scooping booth, upsetting the fish, and causing the booth owner to pull them out with a confused expression on his face because where had they come from!?
A couple of bright purple things landed on the both of them stating in big letters I CAUGHT THE BIG ONE IN OMNIA'S HAUNTED HOUSE! well...at least they were out...?
- - -
Bewildered, Meegosh and Allman grabbed each a purple "thing" and read the writing printed there. T-shirts? They looked at each other and laughed, causing quite an uproar when Meegosh began to choke on the water. After all, they had been fished out of the Goldeen tank.
"We're out!" Allman laughed.
"Yeah! Hey, want to come over to my house? I bet Mom and Dad will love our story. You can back me up."
"Okay!"
