I’m a what!? (Growth response)
There was a loud, obnoxious noise near Lyla’s head and she grumbled a little burrowing under her blanket a little more. Only to realize it was her trainer Bobby throwing a fit. Again. The guy didn’t know how to keep quiet when his pokemon were sleeping and trying to rest up before his next battle, and he seemed to get into a lot of them! Him being quiet so she could sleep would sure be nice right about now.
”WHERE IS LYLA!? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH HER YOU THIEF!? WAKE UP!!” Lyla let out an oof as she felt a foot connect with her back the sudden pain enough to wake her and she shifted, glaring up at her trainer. What was his issue?! What did he mean where was she? She was right here! Was he blind?
There was an angry noise from her as he went to kick at her again and she lashed out with Comet Punch, watching in fascination as a rather odd looking hand struck Bobby in the nearest part of his body (in this case his legs) repeatedly. Once that was done, she was on her feet, and looking down at herself. “What….what am I?” ”A thieving little girl who stole my Ledyba! Give her back, and for Arceus’s sake put some clothes on!” “I’m…I’m a what?”
To say she was stunned was an understatement. To also say she was already sick of Bobby and his anger management issues was also an understatement, and wrapping the blanket around her stalked around the little camp. “You’re such a jerk! you did this same thing to Llyr when he changed, and you kicked him out with nothing! I refuse to slink off into the brush with no way to keep warm, or fed or anything. So you’re going to just shut up while I take my sweet time making sure I’m ready for what’s out there!”
Unlike most Ledyba, Lyla was anything but timid, no she was very confrontational and in your face and now that she could put proper words to her feelings she wasn’t about to shut up. As Bobby made a grab for her she used Supersonic with little thought, and watched in satisfaction as he wandered off looking confused. Using the time she’d gained a bag was packed with various food, a small knife, and a couple other things, plus one of his shirts. The blanket was folded and packed into her bag before she cut some holes in the shirt for her wings and slid it on. Better than nothing for now.
Scouring the camp again she slipped a few more things into her pack, and took off in the opposite direction of her now former trainer, with one goal in mind. Find Llyr. She’d always adored the Butterfree and thought of him like an older brother, and he’d been sent off so long ago…it would be hard to locate him she knew, but she wasn’t about to give up!

A fish for a ...brick break? (Bartering nets Lyla a new skill)
Lyla had come up with some interesting (but legit) ways to support herself, and Aatami. She hunted, and she fished, though Aatami fished a lot better than she did she could readily admit to this. He had shown her the trick to it after all. Still she put these skills to use and she sometimes sold these things to hungry travelers who had had no luck getting their own stuff to eat. It was more lucrative than she could have ever begun to imagine at the start, and some paid in money which did her no good really but was kept. Others paid in blankets, clothing...and the most recent had paid her with something that he said was called a TM...and had to explain to her what it was and how it was used and all. It was a good trade as far as she was concerned once she learned what it was for!
She was tossing it from hand to hand as she walked, mulling over what it was she wanted to do with it. She could use it...or she could sell it. But maybe it could be useful to use it. Maybe she should. Fiddling with it some more she accidentally activated it and that decided it for her. She may as well use it...and she did just that, a new sense of knowing filling her and she looked around before spotting a decent sized tree...and began to wail on it with clenched fists, imagining it was Bobby's face made her madder, made her blows land harder.
After the first few hits she found her stride, and continued to wail on the poor tree who had done nothing to the Ledyba. Lyla only stopped once she heard the tree cracking under the intensity of her blows, and she stepped back wuping an arm over her forehead, a grin crossed her face. This move was good! No one would suspect her of such a move, but it was perfect for any close up attacking needing done.
That, had been a very good trade Lyla determined silently as she continued back to camp. She would practice the move whenever she had a moment, to get better at it. Never knew when it would become a necessity to use it after all, and just because she used it well once, did not mean she could do so a second or third time. No practice was definitely in order so she could make sure she was well versed in the move and able to use it at a moments notice and at her full power. Yes, that was it, she would practice when she was not otherwise busy with hunting, or fishing and even then maybe she would still do it. Just spend a little time practicing the move before getting to whatever task she had set for herself that day, or even after. Either way at least now she had a plan of attack, so to speak.

Can you die from a broken heart? (Lyla reunited with Llyr and it goes very…very badly.)
You brat!
Those words had echoed after her as she took off to come back to camp, sent a sharp pang to her heart though she didn’t know why that was the case. Maybe that he’d pulled a prank on her that could have harmed her, then couldn’t get away from her fast enough…then that. Why did I kiss his cheek!? Ugh that was so stupid of me!
Those thoughts tormented her over the following week as she healed up, as she attempted, and failed to make a new bow to replace the one she’d broken on her first encounter with him. Her camp had been slightly relocated a little further down stream from where she’d been mostly because the area she’d been in was starting to be noticeable affected by her constant coming and going and she didn’t want to really harm the area. And putting a little distance between the two of us isn’t so bad a small voice told her.
A week. She’d said she’d be back in a week…and yet that week came and went without her so much as attempting to go back to see Kenley, convinced he didn’t want her around given how their last meeting had ended. She wasn’t sure what had been making her feel hot and flushed and sick, but it had passed by the time she’d returned to her tent, so that had been a plus at least. Her arm hadn’t fully healed up till just past the one week mark. Eight days it took to heal. At twelve days she still hadn’t returned to where she knew Kenley waited.
No, instead finally she gathered her things, the money she’d made from all her bartering, and other items she couldn’t use to sell them and had gone into the city. It had been beyond bewildering to her, all bright and bustling and noisy. She’d gotten lost more than once, and felt stressed beyond words. She’d found some place to sell the things she didn’t need though not for as much as she had kind of hoped, but she’d found an older book on berries like she’d been wanting at least, and that had only cost her a small amount of money. Still once she found a place to buy a bow she was nearly kicked out for being a child! Still, she managed to sweet talk her way into being allowed to stay and talk. Amazingly, she’d also managed to get one. She’d pulled a (totally bogus) sob story about how it was her older brothers birthday but he was sick, but had wanted a new bow, and couldn’t she please buy him his birthday present?
Her tears had worked in her favor and she beamed at the man as she handed over all of the money she had, he overlooking the missing few dollars and letting her go. Never had she been so glad to leave a place as she was the city, her head was already pounding from the noise and smells. How could people live there? She just wasn’t sure!
Following the street back out of town, she followed the river to get home not caring it was growing late. Very late, and down right dark. There was just enough moon out so she could see her way without worry, but she hoped she’d be back to her tent soon she was so tired by this point and down right hungry, having long ago eaten the food taken with her. As she walked she saw a movement ahead, a tall, looming shape and she stifled a gasp of fear and hid behind a tree watching.
She could make out the shapes of others some distance off, all spread out sleeping, and this one…wandering. Seeing the person crouch at the waters edge made her realize that the person was thirsty and that’s why they were wandering. The light reflected in just the right way for Lyla to make out features and she gasped in surprise.
“Llyr! Is that really you?” she watched as the teen’s head jerked up and towards her a surprised look on his face at someone knowing his name! “It’s me, it’s Lyla! You know, the ledyba from Bobby’s pokemon who..” “I know who you are, be quiet before you wake them all up would you?” his words were harsh and surprised her, though she knew he was being harsh for a good reason. No sense in waking the others with her excitement of having finally found him.
“I’ve been searching for you for so long brother! I’ve been worried about you, and was hoping I would find you so we could travel together just like before when Bobby kicked us both out.” Her words while no less excited were at least quiet. She didn’t notice the slight narrowing of his eyes, the grimace. “Don’t call me that.” “What?” “Brother. I’m not your brother. I’m not even your friend. We were teammates, and not by choice.” “But I…”
He held a hand to silence her. “Look kid, I don’t have time to have you tagging along with me. I’m with a group of others, and we’re on an important journey. I don’t need some chatty, bossy, know-it-all ledyba slowing us all down.” “But…Llyr…I…” she reached out for him, fingers curling around his arm and he shook her off, shoving her away from him perhaps harder than he meant to as she collided with a tree, a soft hiss of pain coming from her at the contact. “Don’t touch me. Geez. You just don’t listen do you? Before I had to like you, because we were expected to, but you know what Lyla? Not only did I not like you, no one else did either. You didn’t listen to any of us when we tried to help you. No, Lyla knew best, Lyla didn’t need our help. You were pathetic and couldn’t even win in a battle once!”
Lyla was stunned by the tirade. Was…she really that bad? She reached out for Llyr again and once more her hand was slapped away from him, knocking the bow loose though she didn’t really pay attention at that point to losing her grip. “Don’t. Just don’t! I’m not your brother, your friend, or anything else. Just forget about me, geez that whole searching for me thing is down right creepy!” she was moving forward again, angry now. “You told me we would always be friends, that you’d look out for me, to think of you like a brother! You lied to me!” “Anything to get you to shut up and stop being a know-it-all!” she swung at him, tears of anger and sadness pricking at her eyes and he shoved her again, causing her to fall backwards again, landing against the tree harder and sliding down a little. The way she fell a pouch was spilled and she hurriedly picked everything up and jammed it in without paying attention.
As she did so, she felt a sharp pain in her hand and jerked her hand back out of the pouch, seeing the blood welling up at the base of a finger and she brought the wound to her mouth to suck away the spot of blood, not realizing for the moment she’d been stabbed by the stinger Kenley had given her from his Poison Sting. No instead she was staring at Llyr, tears welling up in her eyes. “Don’t follow me Lyla. I have a new life now, that doesn’t include you. I don’t need you. I don’t want you. Just…get lost. Drop dead. I don’t care just go.”
His glare was such that she quailed under it, tears spilling down her cheeks as she wobbled to her feet, her back aching from where it hit the tree, though the second spot seemed to hurt worse, and it felt like her shirt was sticking to her back a little. Must’ve been sweat, because she realized she was sweating like crazy, and her heart was hammering, and she was light headed. She also couldn’t stop crying, racking sobs of heart break at finally finding Llyr, her brother…and being tossed away like unwanted trash.
Llyr caught sight of the bow laying there and groaned. Just great….he had a feeling she needed that and as much as he didn’t want to chase her down, he did start after her. It was still late enough at night it wouldn’t be an issue. Lyla wasn’t exactly being careful in how she ran off, nor quiet but she was fast, much more so than he was and he lost her trail more than once. To the point he was wandering lost trying to locate her, gripping her bow, and growing angrier by the minute. Why him!?
Lyla was sobbing, tears streaming down her face, and she paused to throw up at once point, assuming it was the stress of everything, her horrid crying. She stopped to splash water on her hands and face, wincing at the pain in her hand, at how hot it felt. The spot she was stabbed felt sore, and swollen, and she felt so sick… she vaguely realized she’d stabbed herself on his stinger, and had poisoned herself as a result.
“Kenley’s gonna be…so mad..” words were mumbled around her tears, though she had a new round start up at the idea of him being mad at her too! “Llyr hates me…Kenley…he already was mean to me…don’t need him hating me. I just won’t go back. He can’t get mad if he doesn’t know.” That made sense to her feverish mind! She paused again, heaving into bushes as she clung to a slender tree before she was stumbling off again, searching bushes for…something. What was she looking for? She…couldn’t recall. She had the book, pictures to look at and even that was forgotten. “Where’m I?”
She had been wandering..and was lost now. Didn’t see the river, or anywhere she recognized. Lyla kept walking, even though she was feeling weaker by the moment, and finally she just stopped walking, and curled up on her side under an overly large bush, it’s leaves just barely concealing her…and she cried. Oh how she cried. Llyr hated her. Kenley hated her. She was sick. Kenley hated her. Llyr hated her. Kenley hated her.
Her eyes closed as she shivered thanks to the side effects of the poison, tears still trickling down her cheeks, heart breaking…but was it because Llyr hated her? Or because she thought Kenley did? She thought she was dying…could a pokemon die of a broken heart?
It was now extremely early on the thirteenth day, since she'd said she'd come back to see Kenley.

Strange dreams
She remembered the pain in her face, the blood. The look of terror on Kenley's face as she finally couldn't take it anymore and blacked out. Then, she was unaware of pretty much everything.
There was no scenes of her life so she was pretty sure this wasn't her dying or anything, but there was still odd flashes of things through her mind. Colors and sounds. Maybe it was her trying to cling to consciousness ans scrabble up out of the darkness. She wasn't entirely sure.
Warmth was felt. A heart beat. Was that her heart? It sounded so close to her own though and realized it was not her own, but one beating in near tandem to her own. That the warmth was not from sleep but from being close to someone. In the darkness for a brief moment she thought it was Aatami before some part of her subconscious felt it prudent to remind her he had left her several days before to head off on his own in search of his missing sister.
And she knew it wasn't Llyr. That much was obvious to her even now. It took a few more moments for her mind to supply the name and to give her a visual. Kenley. She remembered he had found her...had saved her. More than once...and she was still here with him. Why had he saved her? He hated her didn't he?
It was all so muddled...and yet parts of it were clear. He did care...he'd told her to stay there with him while she healed up. That's why she was warm.
She wasn't alone. Kenley was here.
Lyla shifted slightly and curled closer to the warmth she was pillowed against, cut cheek up in the air, so the wound wouldn't seep into Kenley's shirt. Though she herself was unaware of this fact. Unaware that as she slept she was clinging to the Shiny Silcoon teen with as much strength as her poison ravaged body could muster. It wasn't much, but it was something.
"Kenley...."
His name a soft whisper on her lips as she shifted again slightly a smile touching her lips. From the outside she seemed to be resting peacefully and inside her mind...well it was a whirlwind of images and sounds and feelings...but she knew without a doubt that she was safe thanks to him.
She owed him everything.
