Welcome to the home of my favorite legendary, mewtwo. Quiet and secretive, it's probably best that they don't show their abilities off very often. When they do, wow. Strangeness surely ensues. Rules- Please do not use this thread to chat. - Follow Gaia ToS in my threads. PMs may be another story. - No, you may not copy my layout. You may use it for inspiration in your own design, though. - Be happy. Or leave! Or you could just leaf. *puts on leaf hat* :B - Yes, these were copy-pasted from my other threads, why do you ask? - I reserve the right to pun. Repeatedly and beyond the point of poor taste. - I reserve the right to add more rules. Notes- Sometimes the sprites hide things. Updates- 01 Mar 2020: Moved journal to Proboards. - 18 Sep 2017: banners! - 03 Dec 2015: major journal update - 27 Jul-?? ?? 2015: infiltrated Team Rocket in Jirachi's second meta event: To Catch a Fallen Star - 03 Jan 2015: fan art for Havard and Koujen! Thanks Dooma! - 10 Jun 2014: took a whole year, but the journal's finally up - 06 Jun 2014: roped into saving the world in Jirachi's first meta event - 22 Jun 2013: won Havard in Massive Rehome Event

Havard is a complicated individual. His ego and insecurities go hand-in-hand, but for someone who can communicate anything with a mere thought, his motives are not always clear even to himself. He suffers from a skewed sense of morality, treating those closest to himself with stifling protectiveness and possessiveness, and others with shocking callousness. Name- Pronunciation(s): haav urd. Pronounce Names- Given: Norwegian: "high guardian." Behind the Name- Surname: N/A - Hidden Meaning(s): N/A But don't you DARE pronounce it like Harvard. Nickname(s)- At Home: N/A - In Town: The Child of Man (Matsutta Village) - Friends: Urd. Only Hazan may call him this! All others will die without mercy or hesitation. Physical Stats- Gender: Identifies as male; asexual (though this is being tested by Koujen) - Stature: Short. soft and squishy- Skin/Hair: Very, very pale complexion; peachy skin above the belt, grey skin below. Steely grey-black hair tipped in purple. - Optical Orifices: Large with purple irises. - Other Features: Long, lizard-like tail that ends in a club, similar to an ankylosaurus without armor, purple in color. Two grey, thick, blunt protrusions on top of his head that may be horns... or antennae? Clothing- Style: He wears very comfortable clothes; cardigans, sweats/sweatshirts, or maybe even pajamas. Whatever is laying around and comfortable (he may end up wearing it for several days in a row!). Personality: - Nature: Serious - Summary: Though he quite frankly needs his time alone in the quiet best suited for thinking and meditating, Havard has come to cherish the time he spends with his friend Hazan. They could not be more dissimilar, but their shared love of learning has done much to deepen their bond. Hazan comes to Havard for answers, and Hazan in turn shares exciting stories of his adventures in the wild. Havard has a very subtle humor streak: often wry and deadpan, most would mistake it for a sour disposition. - Myers-Briggs Profile: - - ISTP - - Introverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving - - The Craftsman (AKA The Realist), is a spontaneous, analytical, independent person. Their personal space and desire to do their own thing is nothing short of sacred. It should come as no surprise that they do not seek attention. They like to keep busy learning how something works or to create something with that knowledge. They look for the easiest, most direct way to solve a problem. They are often known for their troubleshooting skills and encyclopedic knowledge. - Likes: Hazan. Being alone. Information. Science. - Strengths: Mind-numbing intelligence. Mind-numbing psychic powers. - Abilities: Flying/hovering. Telekinesis. Telepathy. - Dislikes: When Hazan isn't around. Crowds. Humans. sunlight- Weaknesses: HUGE ego. Underdogs, misfits and other lonely people, apparently. Koujen. - Fears: Insecurities suffered when he realized that alone and loneliness can go hand-in-hand.

All mewtwo have a few things in common beyond the surface. They are all born with a keen sense self-awareness, which no child should realize. Feeling the complete desolation of being the "only one," they realize a single purpose is meant for their existence: is that of a tool of convenience, for the sake of humanity's selfishness, greed, and violence. Little do any of them know that some humans are born with that same burden of fate. Designation- National Pokédex Number: 150 - Type: Psychic - Species: The Genetic Pokémon - Habitat: Typically resides in a cave (Cerulean Cave), or cave-like structure (dark, quiet, secluded). - Diet: Probably slurps acidic rocks, feeds upon phosphorescent fungus, and nips the tails off translucent fish and sightless lizards. Or maybe it has a warehouse of nothing but MREs. Nobody really knows. Physiology- Overview: Mewtwo look like a cross between the tall "grey man" alien and a kangaroo-cat. Because those exist. As such, they possess strong aptitude for psychic and fighting abilities. - Height: 6 feet 07 inches / 2.0 metres - Weight: 269.0 pounds / 122.0 kilograms Behavior: Reclusive, mewtwo are neither shy nor afraid; if anything, they are the opposite. They feel a kinship and sense of protectiveness for other pokémon but feel out of place and unnatural due to genetic manipulation. They usually act out of self-preservation or a sense of honor or justice. Breeding- Egg Group: Undiscovered - Gender Ratio: 100% genderless - Gender Differences: N/A - Courtship: N/A Abilities- Pressure- Unnerve (hidden ability) - Steadfast (as Mewtwo X) - Insomnia As Mewtwo Y) - Other: Mewtwo can fly and hover, speak telepathically with human and pokemon alike, with words. Base Stats: - Hit Points: 106 - Attack: 110 - Defense: 90 - Special Attack: 154 - Special Defense: 90 - Speed: 130 - Total: 680 Type Effectiveness- Damaged Normally By: (1x) Normal, Flying, Poison, Ground, Rock, Steel, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Dragon - Weak To: (2x) Bug, Ghost*, Dark - Immune To: none - Resistant To: (½) Fighting, Psychic - Notes: *Immune to (0x) in Generation 1 Base Learnset: - Confusion: Psychic-type, special attack, STAB bonus, 100% accuracy - Disable: Normal-type, status effect, 100% accuracy - Safeguard: Normal-type, status effect Lore: - Japanese Name: ミュウツー, Myuutsu- Pokémon Origin: Mewtwo is based upon "grey aliens," with feline characteristics. - Name Origin: mew + two, being a modified clone of mew - Trivia: Mewtwo is a late-bloomer, and did not learn an exclusive signature move until Generation V.

Having his status as a pokémon removed, Havard has found some other things missing. It is not so easy to recall and utilize abilities that once came so naturally. His new human body is... inconvenient. Some things he simply must relearn. Ability: - Pressure: Foe's attacks are used up more quickly (fewer moves). Current Learnset: - Disable - Barrier - Swift - Focus Blast Level 100: TO BE LEARNED - Psystrike: ?-type, category (physical attack or status move) (if STAB bonus), describes how HE does it. Replaces Psycho Cut. Level 70: TO BE LEARNED - Aura Sphere: ?-type, category (physical attack or status move) (if STAB bonus), describes how HE does it Replaces Focus Blast. Level 57: TO BE LEARNED - Psychic: ?-type, category (physical attack or status move) (STAB bonus), describes how HE does it. Replaces Disable. Level 50: TO BE LEARNED - Recover: ?-type, category (physical attack or status move) (if STAB bonus), describes how HE does it. it's green and expands outward; as it does, the damage is healed. only half of max HP. Replaces Barrier. Level 36: TO BE LEARNED - Psycho Cut: Psychic-type, non-contact physical attack (STAB bonus); affected by Protect and King's rock; high critical hit ratio and 100% accuracy. A rippling lavender-colored sphere appears around his midsection and spinning, shoots out a lavender blade at the enemy. Replaces Swift. Level ?, TM52: - Focus Blast: Fighting-type, non-contact physical attack; small chance of lowering enemy's Special Defense; affected by Protect. Focuses inward and gathers power into a swirling mass of globules then shoots them in a glowing ball of energy at the enemy. Replaces Confusion. Level 8: - Swift: Normal-type non-contact special attack; not affected by accuracy or evasion modifications but affected by Protect and King's Rock; does not miss and can hit even when enemy is in the middle of Dig or Fly. A transparent violet disc appears before him that looks like a shield, but from it yellow-white stars apparate and shoot out at the enemy leaving trails of lavender behind, and disintegrating the disc. Starting Learnset: - Confusion: Psychic-type, special, STAB, 100% accuracy. (how does HE do it? purple) - Disable: Normal-type, status move, 100% accuracy. (how HE does it eyes glow and a move is disabled) - Barrier: Psychic-type, status move (how HE does it green/blue spherical barrier) - - please note: before Generation VI this was a level 8 move, and will treated as such. Moves learned after Barrier will be assigned according to Generation VI leveling.

Havard with a human trainer?! Humans can go suck lemons! They are despicable and beneath his recognition! Unless he can devise interesting experiments to perform on them. Havard self-trains! He does, however, have his own pokémon minions, some of whom have been blessed by Jirachi's star. Below are listed the ones we know of, by pokémon number. At Ken's urging, every last one of them has adopted the contrived surname of Urs, to roughly mean, "son of Fate," ... and "son of Havard." Those silly little scamps. 102: Ufuoma the ExeggcuteThis pokémon was rescued from Team Rocket along with Koujen during the Tao Trio incident. They had been captured wild for unknown reasons. Perhaps it was because they had the hidden ability, Harvest. This pokémon has survived for many years due to their strong sense of community between each of the seeds. Together, they are "a voice" of reason for Havard and often converse with him telepathically even when equipped to his belt. - meaning: unisex name of western African origin meaning "peace of mind. (Behind the Name) - The Egg Pokémon - Ability: harvest - type: grass, psychic - - weakness: - - - 2x - flying, poison, ghost, fire, ice, dark - - - 4x - bug - - resistance: - - - 1/2 x - fighting, ground, water, grass, electric, psychic - current level: 17-26 - current learnset: hypnosis, leech seed, bullet seed, psychic (TM29) - nature: adamant - gender: 3 faces are female, 3 are male
179 and 566: Richelle the Mareep-Archen hybridThis child was captured as a mareep pokémon by Team Rocket during the Tao Trio incident. One grunt claims she saw the mareep transform into a child with feathers, leading to her capture. Dr. Murphy's tests successfully brought out hidden Archen DNA, but failed to discover the nature of the star-related transformation. Other pokémon rescued by Havard requested she be rescued when they infiltrated Team Rocket's stronghold. Relationship with the others has yet to be established. - meaning: Richelle comes from the name Richard, meaning "brave power" or "rule," (Behind the Name) and when considering mareeps, refers also to Rick Deckard, main character from Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? - Mareep, The Wool Pokémon and Archen, The First Bird pokémon - ability: formerly Static, after experiments gained Defeatest instead - type: electric (primary), rock and flying (secondary) - - weakness: - - - 2x - electric, ice, rock, steel, water - - strength: - - - 1/2 x - bug, fire, normal, poison - - - 1/4 x - flying - - - 0x - ground - current level: TBA - current learnset: TBA - nature: brave - gender: female
220: Velvet the SwinubThis pokémon was captured by Team Rocket for unknown reasons, perhaps for her Hidden Ability. She, along with Richelle, the Hariyama, and Ferroseed were rescued by Havard at Team Rocket's stronghold. Relationship with Richelle is positive but undeveloped with the others. - meaning: refers to the velvet coating on young antlers. - The Pig Pokémon - ability: Thick Fat (hidden) - type: ice, ground - - weakness: - - - 2x - fighting, steel, water, grass - - strength: - - - 1/2 x - poison; ice due to Thick Fat - - - 0x - electric - - notes: - - - normal resistance (1x) to fire due to Thick Fat - - current level: TBA - - current learnset: TBA - - nature: quiet - - gender: female
297: Shamira the Shiny HariyamaThis pokémon was captured for as yet unknown reasons. Perhaps it was because she is a shiny or because they were trying to steal something under her care: she was owned by a fighting school, where her primary function was as a guardian. Having failed that mission, she now stays with Havard in the hopes that she can become stronger. Her relationship with the group has yet to be developed. - meaning: Hebrew name meaning "guardian, protector." (Behind the Name) - The Arm Thrust Pokémon - ability: guts - type: fighting - - weakness: - - - 2x - flying, psychic, fairy - - resistance: - - - 1/2 x - rock, bug, dark - current level: TBA - current learnset: - nature: hardy - gender: female (rare!)
328: Campbell the TrapinchThis pokémon was rescued along with Koujen and the others during the Tao Trio incident. She was captured when, due to her lonely nature, she stumbled upon Team Rocket's camp in the woods and tried to make contact. Her treatment was not favorable, so when Havard rescued her she decided to stay. She is the type who takes comfort by simply being in the same room as one she likes. Havard seems to like her company. - meaning: Scottish name meaning "crooked mouth," and referring to a battle scar. (Behind the Name; see Comments section) - The Ant Pit Pokémon - ability: arena trap - type: ground - - weakness: - - - 2x - water, grass, ice - - resistance: - - - 1/2 x - poison, rock - - - 0x - electric - current level: 17-20 - current learnset: fissure, bite, bide, bulldoze (replaces superpower) - nature: lonely - gender: female

(Behind the Name) - The Meteorite Pokémon - ability: levitate - type: rock, psychic - - weakness: - - - 2x - bug, ghost, steel, water, grass, dark; ground if Levitate is negated - - resistance: - - - 1/2 x - normal, flying, poison, fire, psychic - - - 0x - ground unless Levitate is somehow negated - current level: 13-20 - current learnset: magic room, rock throw, confusion, rock polish - nature: calm - gender: genderless - - note: mental voice sounds deep and feminine
426: Dorian the DrifblimAcquired how, and wild (if Growing, at which stage). Relationship and other stuff. Stats follow. - meaning: "[gift] from the sea;" as Doran means "exile" or "wanderer." (name meaning in question, see: Behind the Name, and Comments section; also Wikipedia "Dorian," "Doran," and "Doris.") - The Blimp Pokémon - ability: Unburden - type: ghost, flying - - weakness - - - 2x - rock, ghost, electric, ice, dark - - resistance: - - - 1/2 x - poison, bug, grass - - - 0x - normal, fighting, ground - - notes: - - - normal is 1x if foresight, odor sleuth, scrappy or ring target are in play - - - fight is 1/2 x if foresight, odor sleuth, scrappy or ring target are in play - - - ground is 1x if gravity is affected - current level: 28-35 - current learnset: focus energy, payback, ominous wind, hex - nature: quiet - gender: male

653: Cináed the FennekinAcquired how, and wild (if Growing, at which stage). Relationship and other stuff. Stats follow. - meaning: KIN-ahj - a masculine Irish name, meaning "born of fire;" equivalent is Kenneth (Behind the Name). Sometimes it's best to go out in the world to collect specimens. There's only so much that can be learned in a laboratory setting, or from books. Sometimes there's just no helping it. Friends- Hazan the Shiny Chikorita: Met as pokémon, he has remained Havard's closest friend since that time. Currently his roommate, and was once the only one he would confide in (in his own awkward way). - Jocosus the Heatran: Probably met when both were pokémon. How could these two possibly be friends? The answer to this question is a mystery the world (outside these two) may never know. At the very least they tolerate one another, even if it usually seems mostly one-sided on Joy's part. Havard feels a certain kinship with Jocosus in one new, unique way: they are both 'gods' to their minions. - Koujen the Shiny Munna: Played by Dooma. Met when both were children during the meta event when Koujen mistook him for an enemy and attacked. His actions seem ruled by strong emotion, making him unpredictable, but perhaps malleable. Over time their relationship has become closer and more complicated. Acquaintances- Bethanne the Miltank: Played by Painted Moose. Met when Havard was a child and she a teen during the meta event thanks to a rogue signal flare. Seems excitable, or a worrier, and protective of even strangers in her group. - Embrez the Shiny Charmander: Played by Haikari. They met briefly (when both were pokémon?), once, but he does not remember her very well. - Raiden the Ampharos: Played by Sabra Knight. Met when Havard was a child and he a teen during the meta event when they responded to the signal flare. Opinion developing; he's a bit of an enigma. Protective of Bethanne. - Raxka the Shiny Ampharos: Played by Sabra Knight. Met when Havard was a child and she a teen during the meta event when they responded to the signal flare. No opinion yet. - Shousuke the Wigglytuff: Played by Painted Moose. Met when Havard was a child and he a teen during the meta event thanks to a rogue signal flare. Seems to be a leader or other source of strength for his group. - Tryce the Shiny Umbreon: Played by Sabra Knight. Met when Havard was a child and he a teen during the meta event when they responded to the signal flare. Opinion developing; seems close to, or at least trusting of, Shousuke. - Willemina the Girafarig: Played by Painted Moose. Met when Havard was a child and she a teen during the meta event thanks to a rogue signal flare. He likes her direct personality. Enemies- The Tao Trio: Their antics put the lives of Hazan and Koujen, along with many others, into peril. Havard holds no grudge against them, though he is unlikely to ally himself with them in the near future. - - Raiko the female Therian Forme Thunderus, played by Tyche Fortuna. - - Masahiko the Therian Forme male Landorus, played by Painted Moose. - - Boreas the male Therian Forme Tornadus, played by Redbud-Tree. - Team Rocket: NPCs, mostly. Havard has both openly defied and worked for them as a freelance pokémon catcher. He uses them as needed, or aids them as the situation requires. - - Dr. Murphy played by Lirilei. During the To Catch a Fallen Star meta, he hopes to make some sort of alliance with Dr. Murphy, whose interests and studies are similar.

Wow, good luck getting any photographs of him. Not only would you have to try to sneak up on him, but you would have to survive long enough to retreat and have the images developed. Oh look! Someone managed to do just that! It must have been one of the Squirtle Twins. Photo Album- Official art, by Orpheus Solon: (links to fullsize art)

Wouldn't everyone like to know what his background is? Well, too bad. Nobody alive is willing to divulge anything about Havard's past. FamilyHe's a petrie baby. No one that's still around is willing to say anything about any family he might have had at one time. Or if he has any. History- ironing out the details; stay tuned! Just to be clear ...
Giovanni is NOT part of Havard's canon.
That mewtwo was not the only mewtwo considered canon. Surely Giovanni and others tried to 'perfect' the original. So Havard is just 'another' one.

Rehome Event Prompt:Trainers...pah. Who needs them? Not you!
Or do you?
...No definitely not! ...right?
Havard has not had any lucky with owners/trainers and he's not happy about this!
He doesn't want anyone else and is likely to pout if someone tries (and by pout we mean sulking, silent treatments...)
Use your imagination to show us how unhappy Havard is these days with this turn over. How are you going to convince him to give people and Pokémon another chance?Date: June 2013Post/Word count: 2421Interaction with: Between Havard and Hazan “Hellooo?” The bright yellow-skinned boy stood at the mouth of a deceivingly small cave entrance. While he listened, childish laughter echoed softly from the cavern walls and faded as if the darkness had greedily swallowed up his delight. He was trying to keep his voice down, honest.
Softer still he murmured to himself, “I was sure of it, this time.” Gathering up his courage and setting aside a chilling sense of uncertainty, he continued deeper into the cave and tunnel system.
After leaving home at the tender age of ten (the right age for any human to start off on a pokémon journey!), Hazan the Shiny Chikorita, now as much a human child as a pokémon, he had set off on a quest very close to his heart. A very long, educational and, knowing Hazan, often dangerous search, he had learned more about himself and the world around him than he had learned at any other time in his life. But he had learned very little about the one question that weighed the heaviest on his young mind: Where in the world was his friend, Havard?
He had followed many wild goose chases that led to dead ends. This small collection of vague local legends was only one among many just like it that he had investigated, so he had no reason whatsoever to believe that this lead would bear fruit when the others had not. Even so, he could not ignore the rumors of a grey-skinned phantom, or of the most curious one about a half-child, half pokémon, and had followed them to this very cave. And he absolutely would not turn back now.
He called out softly once more: “Havaaaard?”
Through a maze of tunnels and caves, the shiny chikorita child’s voice did in fact carry. It preceded him quite well, as if a movie soundtrack was heralding its diminutive hero before the viewer knew whom he might be. But his voice fell on deaf ears. Or rather, it fell on unconscious ears.
There was a room deep within his sanctuary, brightly lit with numerous flickering lights and humming machines. Somewhere, something had boiled over and dried where it fell. It was here that Havard sat folded over on his desk. He literally had his back to his visitor as he approached. Despite this vulnerability, he should have heard Hazan’s approach, and he would have seen the flashing red lights announcing an intruder if he had been awake, but he was caught within the blackened dreams of one completely exhausted.
The muffled sound of the shiny chikorita’s advance gradually got louder as he explored only the beginning of the vast cave system. With each passing moment, the noise behind Havard escalated. The voice echoed eerily in Havard’s mind. “Haaavaaard...” Large, bloodshot, violet eyes shot open.
Hazan now stood at the mouth of a huge cavern. His flashlight revealed stalactites far above his head, and the walls were equally distant on either side. “Wo-ow,” he hissed with awe. “This place is incredible.” More amazing still were the rows of book shelves and the soft glow of artificial lighting at the far end. Beyond these, Hazan could barely see anything around him. But he was now certain that this must be Havard’s cave, and he was ecstatic.
“HUMAN.” The voice that oozed from the darkness was full of urgency and cracked from disuse. Had Havard ever used his voice?
“What? No, I’m--" Forcibly cut off by some unseen power, the shiny chikorita child found himself completely paralyzed. He struggled to move, to speak, anything and managed only to shake and grunt breathlessly.
Havard had slept perhaps half an hour all night, working until exhaustion overcame him at his desk. Desperately he had worked day after day, night after night, searching for the key to his recent transformation, living on cat naps alone. Surely it had been a mutation, or worse, a breakdown in his DNA. Perhaps it had been an anomaly introduced from the beginning and his new form, monstrous as it was, had been a side-effect of countless experimentations.
But now, someone had come back for him. Or perhaps a treasure hunter had found his subterranean sanctuary by accident. It mattered not, really, for no matter who it was, they would not stay, and they would never return. He would make sure that this knowledge, of his location, would never be shared. His eyes became a beacon in the darkness.
Hazan continued to fight the grip of Havard’s powerful psychic restraints. Finally, a memory returned to him, that the mewtwo could read projected thoughts. Ha... vard. It’s me.
Realization struck the mewtwo child just as he released a more powerful psychic blast. “Hazan?”
An oddly mint-green light rushed at the shiny chikorita and filled his vision. He had never seen anything like it. He was released from Havard’s invisible grasp too late. His muscles completely relaxed; even though it occurred to him briefly that he should try to protect himself, he could never fight back against his friend. He felt the impact and it engulfed him as it threw him backward. He was unconscious before he hit the ground. His flashlight spun across the floor and it flickered out, dropping a curtain of complete darkness on the cave.
Havard was not one to hurry about anything. He was careful, methodical, and brooding. Today was the first time he had run anywhere in his recallable memory. Then he was kneeling before his unexpected visitor and moaning softly to himself. And in the darkness, twin threads of heat would be the only other things to suggest that he was crying. He reached down and touched the boy’s face. “Hazan, it really is you.”
Even though he knew Hazan was not dead, he could not help but be overcome with grief. It was as if something from his nightmares had come true. He now realized that whatever had happened to him had also happened to his only friend. Whatever progress he had made in his search for the truth about this transformation had probably been in vain. He crumpled, forehead resting on Hazan’s shirt. “Why?”
And why was life so full of bittersweet irony? His home hidden in seclusion had been compromised, and by his only friend of all people. Now he finally could meet him again and Havard had mistaken him for an intruder. And just why was that? Because he looked like a human! A human! The source of every pain that he had ever suffered was humans. Humans had created him. Humans enslaved pokémon and used them for their own selfish and often frivolous gains. And they did a lot of things just because. Had humans made them both this way? Why!
Havard sighed. He was tired, so unbelievably tired. He gripped Hazan’s shirt tightly, worried that somehow he would awaken only to find that this had all been a dream. “I missed you.” He fell asleep wondering what he would do now. Nothing made sense anymore.
- - -
When Hazan awoke, he was completely blind. His heart fluttered in his chest with fear. Something was on top of him, and as he slowly became aware of the pain he was in, decided that movement for now was out of the question.
While he lay there, he gradually realized that he could see, although quite dimly. The ground beneath him was cold, and whatever was laying on him, specifically, on his chest, was warm. That must mean that he was still in the cave, and on him was--!
He reached up slowly and his fingers felt a mop of soft hair. What color was it? Had he seen black hair, perhaps? Or was it dark purple? Tears fell back, across his temples and into his own wild mop of reddish hair. Finally he had found Havard. For all of his efforts, he had been rewarded with an ungodly amount of pain and an unbelievably wonderful happiness. Had he ever been this happy?
And Havard was sleeping! They had both been sleeping on the floor. He couldn’t help but pretend for just a moment that they had gone out camping together. He shook with silent laughter. Oh, that hurts.
Havard stirred. Where was he? What was he gripping so tightly? His fingers released their hold on... fabric?
Then he remembered. With a soft but audible intake of breath, he sat up again and rubbed his head. He felt dizzy, but rested. “Hazan?”
Hazan realized that his friend couldn’t possibly see him smiling but it was clear in his voice. “It’s me!”
“What happened to you?”
“Well, there was a green light and--"
“No, no.” He turned and gestured in the darkness. Growling softly, he glanced around and concentrated; somewhere across the room a dial turned slowly and the cave began to glow warmly. It was the perfectly suited for reading.
It was the first time either one of them had seen the other in this state. When they had first met they had been pokémon and nothing more. Now they were barely recognizable, but recognition was absolute. “Why do you look like, well, me? Why do you look human?” With the last question he could not help but sound angry and derisive. He could hate humans and even himself but hating Hazan for any reason felt like tearing open a fresh wound.
Hazan sat up, watching Havard all the while. The mewtwo child’s pain was obvious and he was at a loss. “Well, there was this star that fell from the sky,” he began, and memory added to the statement that he had wanted to show it to Havard. “But I fell ill and woke up like I am now.”
Havard looked at him sharply. Something similar had fallen from the sky before him as well. He, too, had fallen asleep. Unlike Hazan, however, he had been slow to realize it. He was accustomed to levitating or flying, and he rarely looked at himself in the mirror. Feeling strange after such an incident had not been surprising, but it had been quite some time before he had discovered the change had taken place. If anything, he had assumed that the change had been gradual.
“Something tells me the same thing happened to you!” Hazan chuckled. He had never seen Havard so humbled. Perhaps he had expected Havard to remain godlike in his eyes forever.
When they rose to their feet, Hazan received another shock. “You got smaller.”
“You got taller!” Havard shot back. “Of course I appear to be smaller to you.” Normally he would have been more indulgent of the shiny chikorita. But now, well, they were the same age. Havard was really unsure how to behave. And he knew that Hazan was right; he was the size of a, well, a human child! Worse, not only was he shorter than he had once been, by human standards he may never be that tall again.
“Do you have any idea how happy I am to have finally found you? It feels like I’ve been looking forever!” Hazan grinned ear to ear. He was quite proud of his accomplishment: if he could find someone like Havard, he could find anyone or anything! More than though, that he had finally met his long lost friend. He would not soon be over this feeling, or so he thought.
Havard’s seclusion and privacy were precious to him. Hazan could appreciate it, even if he couldn’t understand it. And, come to think of it, he had invaded that privacy. Just like that, his elation was effectively crushed. “I, I’m sorry. I’m sure you wanted to keep this place secret. I understand that. But I just had to see you again. I’ll keep your secret, just like last time. I didn’t tell anybody about you.”
The mewtwo child turned away from him wordlessly. His anger and fear, truly, were secondary to everything else. He could not express that. He felt incapable. If he were to speak of it, he was not sure what would fly from his mouth.
Dismayed, Hazan watched Havard disappear into another room. He was as silent as he had ever been as a pokémon, floating from the room. Had Hazan’s selfishness cost him this friendship?
Havard returned a moment later, holding something in his hand. As he approached Hazan, he held out his hand and from his palm levitated something blue and green.
Hazan gasped. He watched as the shell he had dug out of the sand and given to Havard dropped into his yellowy hand. “Is that--"
“I’ve always kept this, from that time long ago.” It sounded more dramatic than he had intended. But showing him the shell also conveyed much more of what he was feeling than he could have expressed in words. “Now that you have found me, what do you plan to do?”
Hazan slowly turned the shell over and over. Could he even say what he wanted to say? Actually, I had been hoping I could stay with you.
“Absolutely not!”
Shocked, the shiny chikorita looked up at Havard. He had not realized that he had been thinking so loudly? He could not help but smirk. He looked down at the shell again. “Well, I’ve been out adventuring for a long time. I left home to do it.” His words held such finality.
Wasn’t it home any longer?
Were they both now alone?
“Hazan.”
When the shiny chikorita looked back at Havard, he was looking elsewhere, wrestling with some thought or other. What it was he could only guess. The mewtwo had always been an enigma to him. And now, it seemed to be even more the case because Hazan could only see himself as terribly selfish. He had betrayed something Havard had felt strongly about. Surely Havard was upset with him, for he was just as self-serving as any human.
“I,” Havard faltered, unable to speak for a moment. He could say that words were new to him. He could say anything he liked that was not the truth. I want you to stay. When you’re not out exploring.
“Ah.”
“Your mouth is hanging open.” Havard was smiling warmly at Hazan. It seemed like a foreign expression, as foreign as his face and everything else human about him. But it was not unpleasant.
“It’s...” Hazan was unable to reply. No, he had never been so happy, but at least now he was certain that the same was true for Havard.

Solo 2: Dream in TimeDate: 27 July 2013, 26-7 Oct 2014Word count: 846Notes: Begins after Hazan's solo, "And the little one said," are these dream-conjured memories, or memories of a future time? Time crept along beyond the mewtwo’s realm of consciousness. Day and Night, whose golden and silver light never changed the stony walls of his keep, passed silently by. The months and seasons, years even, it seemed, could slip by without his notice.
Walls and objects, if they were not needed or necessary, lost their definition. His focus never fell upon them and dust slowly faded color and texture away into a silent haze. People: there were none. Haze.
Hazan. Where had he gone? Disappeared again on one of his adventures.
More time gone. It was cold, but he ignored it.
“Havard!”
Sometimes he thought he could hear his friend’s voice. Sometimes he responded, sometimes he was too busy. Or was he asleep? Was Havard even listening?
Of course he was.
“Havaaard. You never hear me when I’m calling. It’s like that ‘first time’ we met again.” Laughter.
Hazan always returned bringing interesting artifacts and stories to tell. Sometimes the exotic foods came already spoiled. Even if his response was minimal, Havard was listening. But eventually these visits grew farther apart and while Hazan seemed to grow, so too he became more distant. And Havard became increasingly withdrawn, secretly jealous.
There were many reasons for this jealousy, and most of them were difficult for him to define.
How could Hazan wander about alone without a care in the world and mingle with random people so naturally? It was not that Havard was afraid; he was not afraid of anything.
“I have news, but do you want to hear it?”
Of those same people Hazan told stories about, Havard was jealous, the time they spent with him, getting to know him in ways Havard never would. It made him feel angry and melancholy but outwardly listless all at once.
The only measure of time he could recall was measured in inches: Hazan had grown so tall and so broad, yet Havard himself, had he grown at all? The time trickled by as he heard the changes in Hazan’s voice. He evolved twice and somehow he didn’t seem so silly anymore. He was confident. He was an adult. He was beyond Havard’s reach. What had time become but the measure of Hazan’s progress?
“I’m getting married. Please be in my wedding. Be the best man.”
But would he be able to endure such a public event? Of course. Of course if it was for Hazan he would withstand any interminable social niceties with a smile on his face.
He knew he should be happy for Hazan but more than any other emotion he felt the most inexplicable sadness. He tried to remind himself of the many years he had lived alone as a phantasm floating between civilization and the pokémon world. He hadn’t needed anyone. Only Hazan had changed all that. Only Hazan had anchored him to reality and only he been able to find Havard’s keep. Now all he needed was that one friend that would never leave his side.
But now Hazan was doing just that: leaving.
“Of course I will be your best man.”
His wife. They must have many children, he could recall Hazan with children climbing all over him without his building a sweat. There were three, no five, no, twenty... He thought that they suited him, though he could not quite focus on any of them. But what of the wife? Where is she?
“What do you mean? You’ve seen her so many times. She’s always hovering around nearby. She’s human.”
“Children with a human?”
“I hadn’t really thought of children.”
“Is that even possible?”
“I don’t know. But aren’t humans just like pokémon anyway?”
- - -
When he awoke the next morning, the dream’s murky images and distorted voices had faded and disappeared like shadows before the dawn. Yet he felt as if he had had some kind of revelation. Try as he might he could not recall his dream. All he could scrounge up were impressions of nostalgia and awe.
Sighing, he finally shook his head and rose to a sitting position. His bed seemed uncharacteristically crowded and hot. Havard frowned, unable to recall how he had come to be in his bed, not to mention the shiny chikorita boy beside him! He shook his head, vaguely exasperated as he unwound his tail from Hazan’s ankle. Honestly! What was Hazan thinking?
On his nightstand he found the typical pad of paper and on it in his own handwriting had been scrawled three lines:
Humans are like pokémon!
Pokémon are like humans!
Are we pokémon that have become hybridized with humans?
“What is this? I don’t even...” His eyes slowly widened with realization. “Humans and pokémon!” He darted out of his room. “That could be the key to everything!”
“Havard?” Hazan mumbled, unable to comprehend the loud, sleep-scratchy voice beside him that suddenly faded away. Was the mewtwo boy predictably blaming him for this situation? Opening his disbelieving eyes, he caught a glimpse of Havard’s retreating back. Was he… frolicking? Faintly, cackling laughter echoed back at him from the mewtwo’s workshop.
