Noble Saves The Day! ....Or does he?


Noble, you need to stop sulking so much and actually train. It might come in handy.

The words rang through his head as he stood there watching the scene unfolding before him. At least being put through that training, even forcefully had prepared him in a way for things. Even if he didn't care to be forced to train...and didn't want to play the hero. Again.

There was a deep sigh from him and he shifted his weight, hooves shifting on the stones and he was off at a quick run towards the building he saw on fire. He'd been in the area most of the day watching curiously. There was a small family living there, a father and daughter, and while the girl was about ten she was left on her own while the father left. Noble presumed to go to work.

Normally he'd have continued on his way, but he'd opted to stay in the area, just out of sight of the house in case the girl looked out of the window. Which she had several times through the day. Smoke had been rising steadily through the day, the scents of food in the air.

But this smell, this was not the smell of a cooking fire, it was that of something raging out of control! He raced towards the house, and he could hear cries of panic from the girl, who was obviously trapped inside.

"Don't fail me now!"

He focused as hard as he could, he'd only half practiced Hydro Pump since he'd been taught it, and he worried for a moment it wouldn't work in this moment...so it was with relief the water erupted and started to put out the fire!

Noble braced himself and kicked open the door, feeling the heat of the fire, the coughing of the girl, and he redoubled his effort, dashing into the house, and finding her hiding behind a couch which wasn't doing her much good. With a grunt he had her laying over his back and he was off and running from the house, working to put the fire out as he went.

Finally the house while smoky and waterlogged, was mostly in one piece, and the girl was stirring on his back. He carefully found a grassy spot and knelt so she could slide off, and he blinked at the arms around his neck hugging him tightly, the small hand patting and stroking his muzzle, and the kiss to his nose.

"Thank you Keldeo! You saved my life!" the girl was crying and hugging him tightly, and he felt something in him warm a little as he nuzzled as her trying to comfort her, and finally he gave in to his telepathy to speak to her.

You're safe now, and I will stay with you until your father returns.

"Oh thank you Keldeo!" You may call me by my name, which is Noble. "That's a really good name for you! Noble! I'm Aimi!" she continued to hug him, eventually dozing against him, and he flipped his trail up to act as a blanket for her.

When her father finally returned, he 'spoke' to the man and told him what had happened, and he was thanked for saving his daughter and house. Aimi was picked up and held tightly by her father and Noble took off then, though as he reached the edge of the clearing he sighed.

"Was I here to save her...or was I the cause? I still don't know..." his voice was sad, and he sighed before he was off and running again. How could he train more, when he didn't know if he was the cause of all the bad luck people around him seemed to face. Or was he simply at the right place, at the right time to help? He didn't know if he was the problem, or the answer, and it weighed heavily on his mind.

Noble traveled a lot. He had for as long as he could recall, ever since he was really young. He had traveled most of the world several times over but there were places that called to him, and he went there more than other places, especially when he needed somewhere he could sort of think and reflect.

There was a village far away from most of civilization, a very Asian sort of village and he spent a lot of time there for the peace and solitude it offered him. It was his escape this place, and he found himself there once again settled at the far shore of the lake the flickering fires of the village spilling over the water and rippling. So relaxing being here.

Before long he was up and walking again the sound of drums having caught his attention and he found himself curious. As he drew closer the tempo seemed to grow more upbeat, and he was transfixed listening to it, the beat seemed so simple and so complex. The was singing, and there were others who held stringed instruments who's name he did not know but who's sound he enjoyed. So he ligered in the shadows listening.

The music filled him with a strong desire, of what he wasn't sure, but it did kindle something in him, and it sent him turning away with a flick of his tail and he was off and running at top speed, water blurring beneath him as he went. Finally he came to rest at the edge of another lake, and he stood there breathing heavily head bowing to take a drink of the water.

As he stood there looking down he saw a streak of light in the sky a shooting star and it made his heart feel lighter than it had in so long. As he lifted his head there was a sudden blinding light, and he swore he saw dozens of stars as something collided with his head.

"Wha....." the word didn't even fully make it out of his mouth before his knees were buckling and he was dropping into the water, head at least out of the water and more on the slightly rocky ground, something glowing laying not too far off from him, the mysterious something that had hit him on the head. His eyes focused on the object without really seeing it, the light pulsing on it hypnotizing him to the point his eyes closed and he slept.

"Bleh...where'm I?"

Noble sat up shaking his head with a groan. Last thing he recalled he'd been busy taking a drink of water from the lake, and something had clonked him on the head. He'd have thought a nut from a tree but there was no tree close enough to do that where he'd stood for his drink.

Shaking his head again he bent to get a drink feeling really thirsty for some reason and panicked as he looked over into the water and saw the weird human there.

"GAH!"

He scrambled away and landed in the water flailing but saw no one there. Where had he gone?! He whipped his head around while sitting in the shallow water, and finally he shrugged and bent to get water again...and again was startled.

A quick look around proved no one was there. "What's going on?" He shifted and realized then it wasn't a strange human, it was himself! He moved his hoof...no wait...what was that thing...hand! He moved his hand and flexed his fingers with a puzzled look.

"Whoa....what happened? Maybe I'm dreaming....maybe..." it was hard to tell. He stood up and looked down at himself. "Huh...okay well. I guess I need clothes...and stuff...and to figure out what I can...and can't do. Figures..."

He sighed then realizing he was a long way from anywhere and completely naked... "Why? Why me...really...I want to know why.." he sounded dejected as he got out of the water and began to walk with a sigh.

Noble Gets A Lesson


Noble was annoyed all things considered and that was a truly impressive feat but then who wouldn't be annoyed to find themselves hanging upside down from some stupid rope snare that had been left in his path. He hung there by one ankle arms crossed and he muttered away under his breath. At first he'd tried calling for help to no avail so now he was taking stock of the situation, and he was realizing he was mad.

Mad was an interesting feeling and not one he'd had before! Still, he wasn't thinking clearly hanging here like this, or while so utterly furiousy. Trying to swing himself up to reach the rope wasn't working well and he grumped even louder. This was just turning out to be more than a little inconvienient...and trying. His patience was nearly at it's end.

He was even more annoyed realizing that the moves he knew didn't exactly help him get down from this thing, and he began to thrash again wanting to get down. Suddenly he found himself drenched by a large amount of water and he felt himself sailing through the air, and landed heavily on the ground.

Coughing he looked up and saw a Pokemon standing there a grin on it's face and he couldn't help a smile in return. It wasn't often he himself needed helped by someone else, so he accepted it with thanks, and asked if he could be shown that move.

It took a few tries, but he finally figured it out, a laugh coming from him as he learned Hydro Pump. As he looked up to give thanks he found himself all alone and very, very confused to say the least.

All you need is time

It had taken some time, but he'd managed to figure out how to do the moves he knew before this inexplicable change in himself, and while it had taken a lot of trial and error...and there was a marked difference in his speed and strength, he was realizing there was a lot more pro than con to this shift.

Still, there were other issues he had to deal with now, such as clothing...and keeping it and himself clean. Before it was easy enough to just run through some water, now he had to keep his clothes in good condition, and wear shoes because his feet weren't tough like hooves. His hair was another fiasco all together and he gave up on it, more than a little pleased when it began to make what he didn't know were called dreadlocks. He just knew they stayed out of his way better and that was all he needed really.

Dark clothes were nice and easy to hide away in and seemed to hide dirt better...sort of. Then there was that whole comfortable place to sleep thing. Not to say he didn't like them before but if he was tired, then so be it he'd sleep. Now though the smallest stick under him felt like the largest tree being laid on. These differences were a bit on the annoying side.

Still, he was coming to terms with the changes, with being able to help people out a little more effectively than he'd been able to as a Pokemon, and it made life a little more bearable for him...brought smiles a little more readily to his face. All it took was a little time and effort.

The Wise Man

He walked slowly lost in thought, as seemed to be the usual these days. Ever since this transformation into the more human form he now had, he'd grown even more pensive, and in his own little world. Not to say he didn't still feel a tug now and again to go somewhere, and not to say that tug wasn't answered...but it wasn't as prevelant it seemed, or maybe he wasn't paying close attention. He was struggling with who he was, and what he was.

Noble still saw himself as being a bad omen, full of bad luck, and he couldn't help a snort. Sword of Justice. Right. He sure didn't feel that way, not when it was always chaos when he arrived places, or it broke out within minutes to hours of his arrival. No, it was no coincidence as far as he was concerned.

His wandering had him hearing many things, including stories of a wise man who might be able to help him so his journies had him wandering to a remote mountain village. He paused at the far side of the wooden bridge, the paint on it faded and flaking away but the bridge its self was still sturdy. He looked down at the river rushing below it before making his way over the bridge and followed the directions he'd been given.

Finding the proper home he knocked, and stepped inside. His payment, a few coins he'd quite literally had thrown at him not two days before were set onto the table before the man and he waited quietly. He had pushed back the hood on his hoodie out of respect, and he was looking around subtly, noticing various things about the room, as well as the Mienfoo sitting near the old man looking asleep almost. Finally the old man began to speak, his words were surprisingly deep for a man so old, and Noble listened intently to what he was being told.

"There is more and less to you than you think. You are not the cause of the things that happen but the answer to them. Remember that."

Noble nodded his head, trying to understabnd exactly what he had been told, mulling it over. He thanked the man and began to rise, only to stop and he raised a hand to halt the Keldeo child. "Do not turn away from the light child, the dark may be a comfort, but you do not belong there. Embrace that which you are and only then will you find true happiness, and true power."

With those words in his ears Noble left the mans home unaware that the man was at his door watching as he left. The old man looked down to his Pokemon and gave a low chuckle <That boy has a rough road ahead of him Mei Ling, as do you I am afraid. Come, I'm tired.> the words were spoken softly, worn and he shuffled towards his bed and lay down, eyes closing.

Not ten minutes later the old man had drawn his last breaths, and the Mienfoo was beside herself with heartbreak at her trainers death. Still, he'd warned her his time was coming to an end, and she had mostly prepared. She would stay long enough for the funeral for his body and she would make her way into the world.

Journal Entry #1

So...I've decided to give this writing thing a try...and it's kinda awkward trying to hold something to write with...or in. I think it works better with hands not shaped like mine.

I can't even read what I'm writing it's so messy....maybe it'll get better if I keep trying...hopefully it doesn't get worse but man my hand is cramping...

Oh...what was I going to write about, besides this whole learning to write thing? Ah well not important I guess...but man this is really weird. I still can't get used to looking like I do, and being able to write and stuff. Sometimes I forget to open my mouth to talk...and then realize what I'm doing and that I need to talk now.

Embarrassing!

That's enough for now...my hand is cramping.

Journal Entry #2

So it's been...three or so days since I tried this, though I've been practicing using sticks to 'write' on soft dirt. It's been helping, so I decided I should try this again.

I've been trying to weigh the pro's and con's of this change of mine.

Pros:
* People can't catch me no matter what sort of Pokeball they throw at me.
* Most Pokemon don't seem to know what to make of me looking like this so seem to mostly avoid me (finally...no groups of them looking at me in awe. I HATE being the center of attention!)

Cons:
* I have to actually wash myself...running through water doesn't work anymore...
* My hair...what is this? I gave up on trying to comb it...I heard someone call them 'dread locks' and it's fine. I wash them, but brushing is as hard as writing....
* Relieving myself...I can't just go where I please, people look at me in disgust. In my defense, I didn't know! I'd never done that sort of thing after all.

There are more con's than pro's...but I still think the pro's outweigh the con's, or so I'm going to keep telling myself.

Journal Entry #3

I thought of another con. Clothing. That much I'd realized I needed having observed humans enough but getting it was all together different. Another big one is some adults keep trying to help me as if I'm a lost child. That amuses me since I've been wandering the world longer than most of them...and more extensively but whatever.

I'm starting to like this writing thing though, I can talk to myself without it being out loud and making people look at me weird, or in my head and just arguing in my head. This feels more natural and my hand cramps less! My writing is getting a lot better too. I keep practicing on the dirt so I don't use up all the paper here.

I finally got a pack to carry this in, and food, and other things. I was tired of foraging for food as I walked. I was tired of hard grounds with no covering...so now I have a blanket and a small but wonderful pillow, and a change of clothes. It's enough for me. I don't want to weigh myself down with too much gear after all.

Journal Entry #4

Wasn't it just a week or two ago I said I laughed at the humans who thought I needed help because I looked lost? Well...I managed to get myself lost! I don't know how I did it, but I ended up in some remote town that I've never heard of, or visited. It was a really interesting thing since I met this old man who gave me advice. Though I don't really understand it.

He said there's more and less to me than I think. I wonder what he meant by that. It's been a few days since he told me that and I can't get it out of my head. I wonder if the answer is right in front of me, and I'm just too blind to see it. I'm hoping this is something I find the answer to sooner, rather than later, it's starting to bug me that I can't figure it out.

I'm probably thinking too hard. It's probably something simple..I hope anyhow... I'd keep my fingers crossed as I've heard people say but...I don't think my fingers CAN cross....

Journal Entry #5

WOW! The last few months have been absolutely INSANE!

I've discovered another pro to my body! Having hands is SUCH a good thing!

I'll start from the beginning...

I was wandering as I always do, and I felt a pull, like I always do and I dreaded the feeling but I followed along anyhow and found myself in this bustling town with lots of people. Not a one paid attention to me which was both good and unusual but I continued to wander, that feeling growing stronger...

What I saw was such a huge surprise! Someones house had collapsed due to a mudslide (which was why no one was paying attention to me, they were all trying to get supplies to get out the people trapped inside). When I got there they'd pulled loose a kid but there was still a few more trapped inside a muddy and upset woman was screaming.

So I joined in the rescue party, no one tries to exclude me despite how I looked, in fact I seemed to brighten many of their faces, and they looked hopeful and not full of despair.

I began to use some of my moves, carefully blasting water at places to clear the mud and reveal if anyone was beneath. The humans and I worked like this for quite awhile, another child uncovered after three or four times of this which brought a cheer from everyone.

Another ten minutes passed and everyone began to give up hope of finding the last kid but I kept going, refusing to give up until I found them even if they weren't alive. Giving up just wasn't an option. So I kept working, a sense of purpose filling me, and though it took almost ten more minutes of working alone, I finally found the little boy, and carefully washed the mud off him, my fingers clearing mud from his mouth, and within moments he seemed to breathe better.

I felt people lifting him away, heard talk of a doctor there to look at him, and I knelt there in the mud and debris, a stupid smile on my face seeing the woman who had lost her home and her material possessions hugging her children and sobbing and thanking me over, and over again before hugging me.

It was such a strange feeling that hug, but I returned it, and let people help me up. I was tired after all that, and I was surprised by how many people offered to let me stay with them. I took up the offer of an older couple and they let me stay a few days to rest and eat and have my things cleaned.

The pages here in the journal have mud and dirt and water damage in spots, but I'm writing over and around as needed...and I can't help even now feeling such absolute pride in what I did...

and I wonder..if maybe the old mans words were telling me I'm not the bad luck charm I have always believed I am...and if I am merely always where I am, when I am...for a reason. I'm starting to think thats what he meant. They called me a hero...and while I'm not sure what a hero is...all I know is it sure sounds better than a bad luck charm!

Journal Entry #6

I feel weird. Very weird. I don't know why. My body aches though and I've seen sick people in all my travels and I wonder if I'm coming down with what they call a cold, or flu or some other sickness. My arms and legs feel like they're going to fall off while at the same time feeling like I'm being stabbed by sharp things all over.

My head pounds a lot, and while I don't cough, or sneeze, or even feel tired, I just feel...wrong. I dunno, maybe I should find a cave somewhere and spend a few days just resting up, and making sure I'm NOT getting sick.

Can't hurt to settle and try to let this pass. I know there's a cave near here from previous trips through here, hopefully it's empty. I don't want to deal with a grumpy Ursaring like I did that one time....ugh NOT pretty...I don't have it in me to fight or flee.

Yes...some rest, and sleep is best I think. Maybe I'm still sore from all my travels. The weather is changing, getting hotter...could be that maybe...I don't know.
